I am a Spanish teacher by education, but a housewife by choice. I am just a good ol' Kentucky girl and am happily married to my best friend, Stephen. I love spending time with him, my family and my little furry babies: Burt, Pippy, Xena and Fancy. I have always loved everything about the 40s and 50s and am inspired and intrigued by Hollywood's Golden Age. I am a HUGE fan of Lucille Ball (some say obsessed, but I find this word to be excessively harsh) and am also a big Marilyn Monroe fan. I like practically any old movie, but I LOVE film noir, and my favorite films are Mildred Pierce and The Postman Always Rings Twice, both films based on stories by James M. Cain. Suddenly Last Summer would be a close third.

I also enjoy being a housewife and love cooking and taking care of my home and husband. I enjoy reading, and am a big fan of the original Nancy Drew series, which I read for fun. You might say I collect cookbooks (although I don't do it conciously; I just really like them!). I love music, makeup, chocolate, Spanish, Chinese food, high heels, singing, purses and dark chocolate. I am continuously trying to find ways to improve my housekeeping, cooking, cleaning, etc. I am tired of people thinking that housewives don't "do" anything, and am trying (in my own little way) to bring back the age of the housewife. (Woo Hoo!) I am only now learning to be comfortable in my own skin and to not care so much about what others think. I am proud to be doing what I am and want to encourage others to be the same.
My grandmothers truly are my heroes, and I admire them so much for so many things. They have both contributed enormously to who I am and continue to inspire me daily. I miss my grandmother, Hattie, terribly.

I started blogging as an outlet for expressing my love and admiration for times past and as a place to find other people who have similar interests as myself. I hope to make many new friends through sharing what I call my "housewife blog life."
Thanks for stopping by and taking time to read!
Happy Homemaking!
